(818) 237-5519 - Phishing has gone to SMS. This morning our incident response team was given a number to investigate. The number no longer works, but I find it funny. Phishing has now moved from e-mail to your cell phone. This morning large blocks of cell phones were being blasted with a notice that their credit union has detected fraud, etc. I will see if I still have a copy of the the message to append to this post later, but anyhow - YAY! now we can start expecting useless shit to our phones too! I hope the carriers can address this before it get's out of hand.

To any of those who recieved this message and might be searching google to see if they can find anything out about it, it's a bogus message which is attempting to get any information that they can from you. It is no longer working but if you don't mind we'd like to know what cellular carrier you are with.

My mom and I are on a family plan - and she got the text, but I got an email to a fake Golden West website, along with a toll free and LOCAL Ogden # to call. I can forward you the email if you're interested. I was kinda shocked that they at least figured out I lived in Ogden. Maybe it was just chance. Oh, and the text was supposedly for Golden West also. Oh yeah, I'm currently with Qwest but when my contract expires, or even sooner, I plan on quitting their cell service and going with AT&T.

Sure, documenting spammers may help others so why not. And what is the area code and first three digits of your phone number?
