Kensington Notebook lock

I just found out the Kensington MicroSaver Notebook lock has something called the "tamper evident feature"... now I know Kensington locks have proven to be an easy target for lock picking before... I'm wondering whether this new feature was added to counter this hack...

Apparently, if you tamper it, a red dot appears and you can't even use the key to open the lock anymore... according to the manual you have to go to their website for instructions on how to unlock it, or call tech support... the website doesn't offer instructions, it just tells you to call tech support...

I expect to get my hands on one of these locks soon and I hope to find out whether it's still easy to pick and what this tamper evident feature is...
