In a strange sort of way I kind of like Utah. Sure, the job market is a nightmare, sure, it is a desert, sure, it is populated by Mormons. Aside from all that though it is, by comparison, a fairly quite place where I can live in peace (with access to technology like high-speed Internet).

Any city can be great, any city can be shitty... It really is all that you make it. I have made a nice little home for myself here. I have no regrets. I like to travel, but it's always good to get back.

Why must you spam us constantly with your yahoo group? If you want to, put the link in your signature. But damn man, I can't count the times I've seen it on the fruit wall or referenced in a comment of yours. We know about the group, we know it's there, if we want to go, we will. Saying "Hey check out this site!" is kool the first or even second time it happens, but after 12-13 times, it's just plain annoying.

I grew up in utah, recently moved to Baltimore for the obvious lack of real IT jobs in utah reasons, and I gotta say, Utah and SLC peticular is a much cooler place then Baltimore and DC, perhaps its because its my home and where I grew up, but I feel homesick all the time (lame I know)

Salt Lake is much cooler than we natives think of it.
I moved down to Long Beach for a job not to long ago.
I was amazed with how many people told me I was crazy for leaving SLC and how they love it up there! Well the job was crap so I took there advice and back home I came. I think it's just the fact that we natives always seem to focus on the bad things we hear. Making us paranoid and insecure about our city.

SLC isn't a bad place. If we could get the state economy out of the shitter and pump some revenue and jobs in to this place, that would be helpful.

But I much prefer Portland, OR. I can do everything I can do here, there... PLUS there's beaches as close as ski resorts, the beer is up to 7% (not just 5.9) and if there's ever the desire to consume some herbal or fungal enjoyment, its cheaper, and better there.
