A Man Who Had Aids Was Being Interviewed On Camera. He Didn't Think He Would Be Jailed For Smoking Marijuana Saying It Relieved The Nausea His Aids Medicine Gave Him.
Shortly After He Talked, Nine Dea Agents Showed Up At His House And Ransacked It, Looking For "evidence Of Marijuana Growing". The Federal Authorities Arrested Him, Charging Him With Giving Friends Money To Grow Marijuana.
He Went To Federal Court, Where, The Rules Of Trial Forbade His Even Mentioning His Medical Condition, Or The Fact That California Had Legalized Medical Use Of Marijuana ( State Law Was Inadmissible In Federal Court). Since He Couldn't Make The Most Basic Arguments In His Own Defence, He Gave Up-pled Guilty To A Lesser Charge, Which Got Him A Shorter Jail Term. A Condition Of His Release Was That He Not Smoke Marijuana.
He Took The Plea Bargain, But Then Several Months Later, He Died, Because He Could't Keep His Medicine Down.
