'Vandal' reprograms UDOT road-sign message

Drivers at 1300 East and 450 South saw an uncommon message this week. Someone reprogrammed a portable electronic road sign and tried to make it read "I'm Rick James Bitch." Utah Department of Transportation spokesman Brent Wilhite said the sign didn't display the entire message, but the department considers the reprogramming to be vandalism and it informed police. Wilhite said programming the sign requires knowledge of how the device works and that the department hasn't seen anything like this before. "It has to be someone familiar with this type of equipment," Wilhite said.
