Verizon are dicks.
After the end of a two-year contract they didn't just keep the account under the same terms, they started billing each call and text as if it were overage on a normal account, so charges per-minute and per-message. Assholes. T-Mobile wins again. |

Somehow, I find that less than surprising. In my case, the account isn't under my name (but that won't stop me from bitching, since I'm actually the one that was making payments on it). Regardless of this fact, the person in the billing department tried telling me that there were two accounts on one line. When I pointed out that it's not physically possible to have two accounts from (according to them) two entirely different addresses on one phone line, they were taken aback at this disastrous error on their part, but still demanded that I pay them $769 to reactivate the account. Problem is, to my knowledge, there has only ever been one account active at the residence in question. Because of this, one can only assume that Verizon tacked on a phantom account at some point just to get more money, hoping that the consumer was stupid enough to pony up cash for an imaginary charge. To the layman, they actually expected me to backpay for a service that doesn't even exist anyway, nonwithstanding the fact that the service that is actually being paid for is ridiculously overpriced to begin with. But to make matters worse, they disconnected the phone line after sending an email statement saying that the account balance was $0. That means the account was already paid up. Now some might ask, how does one go from having an account paid off to suddenly owing $769 for services on a non-existent account, and $164 on an account that does exist? The Answer: Fraud. (This is why I'm going with a different phone service provider that can actually perform basic mathematics. Also, google ".00Z") Unfortunately, because they are a corporation, they can (and do) constantly get away with this bullshit and only get a slap on the wrist. If an individual were to do something like this, they'd be dragged to court and thrown in jail/prison (depending on the severity of the crime) quicker than Oprah could devour a triple decker cheesecake. Enjoy your dickcheese, verizon. Fucking faggots.

So does a class action lawsuit sound like a good idea. You cant put everybody in jail and you sure can seriously do some major damage to a companies rep with a large enough set of people who have had similar experiences. Hell this might be the start of forcing all the fucked up mobile phone carriers to really watch their own asses in the future.
