Seriously, the parents are to blame for this one. If you think about it, apparently, they left her unsupervised at a resort. Does this make sense? Sure, the door may have been locked, but that's not the issue.

Brazilian President decides to err on the side of common sense rather than allowing himself to be governed by papal mandates. The problem is, people will do what they want, whether there are laws or social morays either condoning or condemning it. Birth control is personal choice, and the earth is already overpopulated as is. Drugs preventing children from being conceived does *NOT* constitute as a direct violation of any religious, let alone government sanction.

As do I. Personally, I think that the elephant has mastered the art of privateering. On one hand, yes, it's a minor inconvenience to vehiclists, but from an evolutionary standpoint, this massive beast has laid down the law. If I had the resources, I'd travel over there just to see it, and hopefully teach it how to successfully wield an unbalanced object such as a shovel, long mace, or battle axe for defense weapon in case "the law" decides to intervene.

Four people from the predominantly rural north of the Netherlands have been arrested for injecting their HIV-infected blood into other people. Apparently, they would hook up with men in chatrooms to have private gay sex parties, then they'd drug them up using XTC and GHB, inject their HIV infected blood and then have unprotected sex. They claimed to do this for kicks, and to promote unprotected sex, which, they felt, is more pure than protected sex. As, with modern medication, people with HIV have a reasonably long live expectancy, the offenders have been charged with premeditated grievous bodily harm (not with 1st degree attempted murder, as they should have been charged with, IMHO) and face up to 16 years in prison. click, click.

On a different note, a dutch broadcasting corp, along with the dutch producing corp that brought you Big Brother, are gonna have a donor transplant show. A terminally ill and dying female has a kidney to share and during the show and with the aid of viewers who can text their opinions, she can choose which of the three candidates is entitled to the kidney. Ofcourse, there's been a huge outcry at this. What doesn't raise eyebrows these days? click. For what it's worth: I think the concept of having a gameshow about this is questionable... but fact remains that there are way too few registered donors and at least there's some sort of public debate about it now.

Well, the show just finished and it turned out to be a media stunt, to draw some attention to the lack of registered donors. The woman who was allegedly dying was apparently an actress. The three contestants were truly in need of a kidney, but were in on the whole thing. Although some people are obviously claiming they knew all along, this show made the news all over the world and was actually discussed in Dutch parliament.
