Bookmark Manager.

There is a new feature here @ hektik. On the left you may notice a bookmark link. This will allow you to store all your bookmarks online and will also be a bit more feature rich than the normal browser bookmarks. It's still in beta test phase (i.e. things could possibly break) but there haven't been problems yet. The username and password is the same as your forum account, so if you still dont have one, you'll need it to access this. Anyway, if you click on the bookmark link and play around you will get a good idea of what is going on. Here is a screenshot of what I've done w/ Opera.

Maybe we should write a feature that will import bookmark files from common browsers using file upload. Also, possibly have a public bookmarks section and a private section, so they can show other people lists of sites.

Yeah, I thought about the import feature, but so far I've been too lazy to write a parser for Netscape & IE. Maybe in the future. Also, there is plans for bookmark sharing. Not sure exactly how I'm going to do it (i.e public/private or share with ) but it's planned. Also, there is a thread created already under Main/Project Feedback/bookmark.hektik.org for feature requests/bug reports.

mozilla

I haven't used "netscape" in the past few years, but mozilla can export its bookmarks to an HTML file. I assume this would be simple enough to import. I haven't noticed anything that would let me export from IE. Though there's probably an app somewhere... Great idea Muti. I appreciate the work.

In IE
File>Import and Export...>Next>Export Favourites>Next

Then select the folders of your favourites which you would like to export, and then save the file. Pretty straightforward, and the file is fairly plain so should be quite simple to parse...

oh, and looking at the source, heres a nice little piece of header in the top ...

Yeah, it does asshole. heh. I did it because I use 4 different browsers on 2 different computers and was sick of having my bookmarks all over the place.. plus, not accessible when I am away from work/home. So I decided to share it.

It kicks ass, I have two home machines with random links, a lap top with random links, a work machine with random links and so on. It always seems the link I want is on the computer nowhere near me so it's handy sluglord when you can get to them anywhere, you can even access them over SSL if needed.

To answer my own question...

Here is how it's done:
http://info.netscape.com/fwd/sidusdir/http://dirt.netscape.com/cgi-bin/sidebar.cgi?title=Hektik.org+Bookmarks&URL=http://bookmark.hektik.org/

The title will be 'Hektik.org Bookmarks', to make it personal like Muti you would replace 'Title=Hektik.org+Bookmarks' with 'Title=Muti's+Bookmarks'

Anyways, i'm sure most people here can/have figured it out on their own already, but i post just for those that don't feel like thinking too hard.

Also, here's an quick link to add it right now! (with the title 'Hektik.org Bookmarks').
