Many of you know how fast food works. You go through the drive-thru, order your food and go along your merry way. Fewer of you know exactly what goes on behind the scenes, so to speak. I worked New Years Eve. The first was a holiday, so all the mailbox runners got their checks early. As a living testament to this debacle, I wrote a little poem that I'd like to share with you all:

'Twas the night before New Year's, and all through the store
Sandwiches were ordered by $10 whores,
With their crotchcritter kids and their mouths all agape
They stared at the menu, wond'ring what should they take
28 doubles and Big Macs galore
There's not enough burgers, we'd better make more
Blow half your stipend on snack wrapped selects
You'll be back tomorrow with the rest of your check
Deep in the kitchen, the buns were a-sticking
While Carmack jostled the abortion rod, bitching
Canter looked over and stared at the screen
The orders kept growing, with chicken, add cheese
Extra mayo, no pickle, the orders compounded
In a manner that left all of night shift astounded
Then off in the distance came the low sound of thunder
As customers looted, pillaged, and plundered
The stockroom in ruins, a smoldering rubble
Soon we all knew that we were in trouble
As The Gluttunous Kraken appeared from the sky
He said "Y'all hadyer Chrissmuss, now ah wahnt muhpies!"
