Diploma in Hand at Last!
I finally graduated today (i.e 29th of June) when I was officially awarded a Professional Diploma in E-Technology certificate. There were no graduation ceremony involved; no long dark gowns, no square caps thrown in the air, no laughters and hugs between graduating friends, and no cheap camera clicks either. Nothing. The thick brown envelope containing the precious document was handed to me by my father this morning, who went to pick it up at the training center.
Therefore, after nine months of forced patience, administrative hiccups and threatening phone calls, I am now an official web application designer and developer - as written in gold on the blue plastified diploma certificate. As the relief brought by the anticipated but late arrival of this document from India descended, I found myself reliving the memorable moments of the two years spent at NIIT Mauritius: the afternoon smoking time in the forbidden stairways, the detours through the lax Windows NT network restrictions to gain proxied Internet access, unspoken (and later buried) crushes, collaborative exam work hair-pulling software debugging class project sessions, first-ever job distributing flyers to the vehicles on the motorway in the capital, and enjoying occassional fast food dinners with mates after class, namely. I miss these moments from time to time.
I have six more months before my actual advanced diploma in computer science course terminates. This time, I am studying at another (local) professional and private training institute. Next year is the final undergraduate course year. A mari usque ad mare, per ardua ad astra.
