Lovely, Lovely Friday
America Online has continued to lose customers and revenue over the past year, with close to a million subscribers jumping ship in the past three months alone. This is after already having lost about 2.3 million customers last year. Going down the drain? We can only hope.

Despite the fact that Apple’s new PowerMacs will run on Intel chips, it doesn’t appear that users will be able to install the Intel-friendly version of Apple’s OSX on just any Intel-based PC. However, OS X Tiger will run on the PS3. Windows "Vista" isn't even out yet and there are already proof-of-concept viruses for it. More News and BotD

People will call anything a virus to get publicity... Sounds like this is another case of exactly that since they aren't reported to exploit any vulnerability or even cause any major issue.
HOLY SHIT LOOK AT THIS SCRIPT I WROTE... I RUN IT AS AN AUTHENTICATED USER AND IT DOES THINGS, IT'S A VIRUS!!! |

And your point is.. what? If someone can make a couple of bucks off of publicity, then they will. I swear the people at Norton wrote viruses, just to get the payoff in the long-run. And they probably supported articles like these too. So calm down man. Instead of getting angry, how about educate the public. Make the modern media look like a bunch of dumbshits.
Or.. punch a cushion or something, heh. |

I'm just here to offer my opinion man.
Let's get back to the main subject at hand, shal we? I think it's a little too simple to point out something that is already obvious. The 'so-called virus'.. c'mon, I think the article was just pointing out how easy, and (maybe) more open the system is. Afterall, isn't a virus more-or-less just a group of command-line executions? So your right. Anybody can write a script, and try to call it a virus. It sucks when you see other people exploit on what you know is true. For instance, I used to manage a coffee shop a long time ago. I took a lot of pride in my knowledge of gourmet drinks, and was pleased to serve the public. It was when the Starbucks craze, broke out. Mass-produced their beans, giving them a slightly burnt taste, drowning in sugar. I would then see all of these people walking around drinking sugar-milk with shit-filtered water, and hearing them call it a 'latte.' I became very angry. In fact, I was notorious for being a coffee nazi. I even went as far as interrupting someone, who was talking about coffee, just to correct them. Fucked up. I was in the wrong place, and in the wrong state of mind. But now I've come to accept the fact that: If people can take an origional 'template' (if you will) and modify it, so that it seems similar in order to turn profits, they will. So now I do my best not to let things like these to upset me. Please fill me in on what you think, friend. |

Sensationalism bothers me because it distorts the truth and misleads people who aren't especially knowledgable about the subject at hand, such as you. |

Big deal. So I don't have extensive knowledge of computers. But I do have a grip on the basics, and I'm comfortable with that. I'm trying to learn more, and it's a steady, but slow pace. And what's great about it is when people like you open your mouths and try to play 'big dog', just tells me who not to learn from, and how not to act to other people who want to learn. I don't appreciate your condescending attitude. Today you defy all, everybody as a community has done to grow, by trying to look down on me. I hope tomorrow promotes change, man. |

Ok, when I said "And your point is.. what?" what I meant was "Dude, you pointed out something that is already obvious."
When I said "calm down" what I meant was "Calm down. YOUR TYPING IN ALLCAPS and it is annoying." I'm also sure that the people you've mentored, already knew you, and your personality. So they know what to expect. Also if someone was taking the time to mentor me I wouldn't be an asshole and say "You have no point" in such an abrupt way. I was merely trying to jest with you. 'Obviously' we are starting to come to an understanding, about misunderstanding each other. If I came off rude, I apologize. How about we get back to discussing the article? It sounds a lot more entertaining, than trying to prove something to one-another. |

cold, THE POINT IS... that the article is complete sensationalist bullshit and that you are lame for starting an argument when you admittedly "don't have extensive knowledge of computers". Also, Adept was calm.. he was being sarcastic by using "OMG THE SKY IS FALLING" CAPS!@!#$ (in the third person, btw).
