I got to experience my first real earthquake today. Quite an interesting thing, sitting at my desk in front of a window in my office on the 10th floor of a 25-story building in downtown Los Angeles. The building shook, swayed and creaked in a way that made me incredibly uneasy. Just as I started feeling vaguely seasick, a coworker yelled "get under your desk!" As I was getting up out of my chair, the shaking stopped. My computer screen was suddenly filled with instant messages from friends in the area asking if I'd felt the earthquake. Heh.
