My Favorite Punk Rock Dive Bar Got Me Drunk

Bizarre results of a Star Wars Photoshop contest. Jabba the Hutt never looked so tasty. So, who's seen the movie already? I've got tickets for Saturday night at the Arclight theater in Hollywood.

Patriot Act, Part II -- FBI subpoenas without judicial approval, easier secret wiretaps and searches (written by Senator Pat Roberts, R-Kan.). Basically gives the Bush administration everything its been demanding for the past two years. "While we're fighting to bring provisions ... back into balance with the Bill of Rights, here we have the intelligence committee moving to give the government more power outside the judicial system to gain access to records of Americans," said former GOP Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia, a critic of the law. Lisa Graves, ACLU senior counsel, said the new subpoena power would "be a dramatic expansion of secret search powers."

Scientists unveil earthquake forecast map based on up-to-the-minute seismic activity. The thing is pretty cool for us Californians.

Netscape claims it is about to launch an anti-phishing browser.

Cellphones for Dummies -- or at least the "not-technically-inclined."

How to fake a fingerprint.

Babe of the Day: The girl with the cool butterfly tattoo necklace (thanks Teep for pointing her out, and for pointing out that the dude looks like a James Bond villain).

Man, I'm too drunk to find any more news that interests me. E3 was awesome, am going back tomorrow wearing my huge fucking tall boots so a) I can see over the crowd, and b) so large men stop absentmindedly stop slamming into me because they're too busy looking over my 5'5" head at the pretty flashing lights and half-naked women on stages promoting various games. Played Starcraft: Ghost today, and a bunch of Japanese games whose names I can't pronounce. My buddy Maxx got lots of attention for his homemade "WORLD OF WARCRAFT SUCKS ASS" t-shirt (including getting photographed by Wired and a few random fanboys).

Okay. Bed now, Blue Line train in the morning, DNS replication, then E3 to see Tony Hawk skate in promotion of his new game. Oh yeah, and I'll remember to actually put my camera in my bag this time. I hope the mostly-naked chick in the metal-and-neon bikini who was eating fire while half-naked men banged on drums in a very primal setting is there today so I can get a picture. I have no fucking clue what game they were promoting, but I was enthralled.

I've seen it. It's gawd awful, and I'm a huge StarWars geek. I really wanted this movie to be good. Please adjust your expectation knobs from Empire to somewhere between Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, then you may not feel so bad. My movie review to be posted in the movie reviews section soon. That is all.
